The Office of International Affairs (OIA) develops and advances initiatives that support the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus vision as a leading public university with a global reputation for excellence in learning, research, creativity, community engagement, and clinical care. OIA partners with the university's schools/colleges and with other university offices to align international student recruitment efforts and services, support academic programs, foster global educational partnerships, facilitate research collaborations and create global learning opportunities.

International Admissions (IA) is the primary unit focused on international student recruitment at undergraduate, graduate, and PhD levels for CU Denver | Anschutz. IA is also the full-serving admissions office for international undergraduate applicants and provides application support for international graduate applicants at CU Denver | Anschutz.

Under the direct supervision of the International Credential Evaluation Manager, with oversight by the Director of International Enrollment Strategy and Admissions, this position's main responsibility will be to perform credential evaluations for international students verifying authenticity, accuracy, and completeness of credentials, with respect to admission decisions for undergraduate and graduate programs. This position will also support application processing and operations across the undergraduate and graduate levels.

This position is responsible for facilitating the admission and enrollment of international students at the university.

International Credential Evaluation and Operations Coordinator

What you will do:




  • Facilitates the evaluation of foreign credentials for undergraduate and graduate admission, including directly performing evaluations.



  • Facilitates credential evaluation summaries for reports received from external providers.



  • Ensures that any such credential evaluation incorporates verification of institutional or program accreditation, authenticity of documentation, conversion of foreign GPAs, U.S. degree comparability.



  • Determines transferability of foreign credits/grades for undergraduate and graduate transfer students.



  • Advises university staff, international students, and prospective students on matters related to course equivalencies and transfer of credit.



  • Provides preliminary credential evaluations as needed for prospective students, university staff, the Office of Global Education, and external partners.



  • Develops and maintains standardized procedures and training materials for credential evaluations for transfer credits, vocational study, study abroad, and other special situations.



  • Verifies proof of English language proficiency.




Document Verification:




  • Performs advising appointments for document verification



  • Verifies foreign admission documents for current CU Denver students.



  • Assists in updating procedures, training materials, and online resources for document verification.



  • Assists in updating a physical, digital and online library of document verification tools.




Application Support and Services:




  • Works within Slate, CU-SIS, and other university systems to facilitate the efficient processing of applications.



  • Advises and counsels prospects, applicants, and students on university admissions policies and procedures.



  • Performs advising appointments for application support.



  • Ensures the accuracy of each application entered and all documents uploaded.



  • Provides excellent customer service to prospective and admitted students by assisting with walk-in traffic, answering questions, answering telephone calls and responding to email inquiries.



  • Collaborates with the Credential Evaluation Consistency Committee in order to ensure that we are evaluating international credentials consistently.



  • Works with various stakeholders within schools, colleges and university administration to provide application support.



  • This position will be tasked with additional responsibilities relating to application operations and processes.



  • Supports tasks and projects related to yield and enrollment reporting.




Additional Responsibilities:




  • Assists with the admission process for partnership and special programs such as the International College Beijing (ICB) program.



  • Assists with consolidating records and constituent staging in CU-SIS.



  • Assists with evaluating student transcripts to ensure compliance with Colorado Higher Education Admission Requirements (HEAR) and CU Minimum Academic Preparation Standards (MAPS).



  • Have an understanding of established standard CU Denver decision guidelines, rules, Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE) Policy and Federal regulations that pertain to admissions criteria and required credentials.



  • Researches English language proficiency requirements to assist the Director of International Enrollment Strategy and Admissions with updates to ELP policy when needed.



  • Engages in international recruitment activities



  • Contributes to CU Denver | Anschutz and Strategic Enrollment and Student Success priorities by serving on standing or ad hoc committees, task forces, etc. as appropriate.



  • Envisions and executes additional duties and projects with or without specific assignments.




Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)




  • A bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited institution



  • 1 year of experience with academic services or student services in a higher education setting OR 1 year experience in a processing role in any field




Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)




  • 1 year experience with international credential evaluation



  • 1 year professional experience with CRM, database, and query building



  • 2 years experience working in Excel



  • 2 years experience working with constituents from diverse and international cultural backgrounds

Conditions of Employment



  • This position follows a hybrid work structure. This position is required to work from one of OIA's campus locations three days per week and may work from home two days per week. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $50,580 - $55,905.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
